Privacy Notice for California Residents
Effective: October 6, 2026 · Last updated: October 6, 2026
This Privacy Notice for California Residents (“Notice”) supplements the Privacy Policy of Ocean Beach Media (“we,” “us,” or “our”), a marketing company that owns and operates oceanbeachmedia.com and consumer brands and websites including Quote Genie (quotegenielifecoverage.ai) (together, the “Sites”). It applies only to visitors, users and consumers who reside in the State of California (“consumers” or “you”). We adopt this Notice to comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act of 2020 (together, the “CCPA”). Terms defined in the CCPA have the same meaning when used in this Notice. If anything in this Notice conflicts with the Privacy Policy, this Notice controls for California residents.

Personal information does not include publicly available information from government records; de-identified or aggregated consumer information; or information excluded from the CCPA’s scope, such as health or medical information covered by HIPAA or the California Confidentiality of Medical Information Act, and personal information covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act or the Driver’s Privacy Protection Act.
2. Sources of personal information
We obtain the categories of personal information listed above from the following categories of sources:
- Directly from you. For example, from the quote request form you complete on the Sites, and from calls, emails or messages you send us.
- Indirectly from you. For example, from observing your actions on the Sites through cookies, pixels and similar technologies.
- Service providers. For example, consent-certification vendors (such as TrustedForm), call-tracking vendors, hosting providers and analytics providers.
- Advertising partners. For example, the campaign identifiers attached to the advertisement or link that brought you to the Sites.
3. Use of personal information
We may use or disclose the personal information we collect for one or more of the following business purposes:
- To fulfill the reason you provided the information — for example, to match you with a licensed life insurance agent and deliver your quote request to that agent.
- To contact you about your request and about life insurance and related products by telephone, text message, email and mail, in accordance with the consent you gave on the Sites.
- To create, maintain and secure a record of your request and your consent, including the consent certificate and the exact language you agreed to.
- To verify your identity, detect security incidents, and protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity.
- To operate, debug, measure and improve the Sites and our advertising, including understanding which advertisements and pages lead to quote requests.
- For testing, research, analysis and product development.
- To respond to law enforcement requests and as required by applicable law, court order or governmental regulations.
- To evaluate or conduct a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution or other sale or transfer of some or all of our assets, in which personal information held by us is among the assets transferred.
We will not collect additional categories of personal information, or use the personal information we collected for materially different, unrelated or incompatible purposes, without providing you notice.
4. Disclosure, sale and sharing of personal information
Disclosures for a business purpose. In the preceding twelve (12) months we have disclosed personal information in Categories A, B, C, D, F, G, H and K for a business purpose to the following categories of third parties: our affiliates; service providers (hosting, lead routing and storage, consent certification, messaging, call tracking, analytics and advertising); and licensed insurance agents, agencies and carriers you asked us to connect you with.
Sales and sharing. Because we may receive compensation from licensed insurance agents, agencies and carriers for quote requests we deliver, and because we use advertising cookies and pixels, our activities may constitute a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA. In the preceding twelve (12) months we have sold or shared personal information in Categories A, B, C, D, F, G and K to or with the following categories of third parties: licensed insurance agents, agencies and carriers, including the marketing partners listed on each consumer website’s Marketing Partners page; and advertising networks and analytics providers for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of consumers under 16 years of age.
No sensitive personal information. We do not collect, use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes other than those permitted by the CCPA.
5. Your rights and choices
The CCPA provides California residents with specific rights regarding their personal information. This section describes those rights and explains how to exercise them.
5.1 Right to know and data portability
You have the right to request that we disclose certain information to you about our collection and use of your personal information over the past twelve (12) months. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will disclose to you:
- The categories of personal information we collected about you.
- The categories of sources for the personal information we collected about you.
- Our business or commercial purpose for collecting, selling or sharing that personal information.
- The categories of third parties to whom we disclosed, sold or shared that personal information.
- The specific pieces of personal information we collected about you (a data portability request).
- If we sold, shared or disclosed your personal information for a business purpose, two separate lists identifying the personal information categories that each category of recipient obtained.
5.2 Right to delete
You have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we collected from you and retained, subject to certain exceptions. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will delete (and direct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records, unless an exception applies. We may deny your deletion request if retaining the information is necessary for us or our service providers to:
- Complete the transaction for which we collected the personal information, provide a good or service that you requested, or otherwise perform our contract with you.
- Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent or illegal activity, or prosecute those responsible for such activities.
- Debug products to identify and repair errors that impair existing intended functionality.
- Exercise free speech, ensure the right of another consumer to exercise their free speech rights, or exercise another right provided for by law.
- Comply with the California Electronic Communications Privacy Act (Cal. Penal Code § 1546 et seq.).
- Engage in public or peer-reviewed scientific, historical or statistical research in the public interest that adheres to all other applicable ethics and privacy laws, when the information’s deletion may likely render impossible or seriously impair the research’s achievement, if you previously provided informed consent.
- Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us.
- Comply with a legal obligation — including our obligation to retain records of the consent you gave to be contacted, which we keep for at least five (5) years.
- Make other internal and lawful uses of that information that are compatible with the context in which you provided it.
5.3 Right to correct
You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information that we maintain about you. Once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request, we will use commercially reasonable efforts to correct the information as you direct.
5.4 Right to opt out of sale or sharing
You have the right to direct us not to sell or share your personal information. This right applies to California residents regardless of where you are physically located. To exercise it, visit our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page, or use any of the contact methods in Section 6. We also treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal sent by your browser as a valid request to opt out of sale and sharing for that browser. Once you opt out, we will not sell or share your personal information unless you later provide express authorization. Opting out does not affect information already delivered to a licensed agent or partner before your request; you may contact those recipients directly, and the website you used lists them on its Marketing Partners page.
5.5 Right to limit use of sensitive personal information
We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would give rise to a right to limit under the CCPA.
6. Exercising your rights
To exercise the rights described above, please submit a verifiable consumer request to us by any of the following methods:
- Following the instructions on our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page;
- Emailing us at info@oceanbeachmedia.com with the subject line “California Privacy Request”; or
- Calling us toll-free at 1-888-521-0209.
Only you, or someone legally authorized to act on your behalf, may make a verifiable consumer request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child. To designate an authorized agent, you must provide the agent with written, signed permission to submit the request, and we may ask the agent to provide proof of that permission and ask you to verify your own identity directly with us. An agent that is a business entity registered with the California Secretary of State must provide evidence of that registration.
You may only make a verifiable consumer request for access or data portability twice within a 12-month period. The verifiable consumer request must:
- Provide sufficient information that allows us to reasonably verify you are the person about whom we collected personal information or an authorized representative — typically the name, telephone number and email address you used when you submitted a quote request.
- Describe your request with sufficient detail that allows us to properly understand, evaluate and respond to it.
We cannot respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us. We will only use personal information provided in a verifiable consumer request to verify the requestor’s identity or authority to make the request.
7. Verifying a request
We verify requests by matching the identifying information you provide against the information we already hold. For requests to know the categories of information collected, or to delete non-sensitive information, we match at least two data points (for example, telephone number and email address). For requests to know specific pieces of information, we match at least three data points and may require a signed declaration under penalty of perjury that you are the consumer whose personal information is the subject of the request. We will not disclose Social Security numbers, financial account numbers or similar highly sensitive data in response to a request to know.
8. Response timing and format
We endeavor to respond to a verifiable consumer request within forty-five (45) days of its receipt. If we require more time (up to an additional 45 days), we will inform you of the reason and extension period in writing. We will deliver our written response by email to the address you provide, or by mail at your option. Any disclosures we provide will only cover the 12-month period preceding the receipt of the request. The response we provide will also explain the reasons we cannot comply with a request, if applicable. For data portability requests, we will select a format to provide your personal information that is readily useable and should allow you to transmit the information from one entity to another without hindrance.
We do not charge a fee to process or respond to your verifiable consumer request unless it is excessive, repetitive or manifestly unfounded. If we determine that the request warrants a fee, we will tell you why we made that decision and provide you with a cost estimate before completing your request.
If we deny your request in whole or in part, you may appeal by replying to our decision email with the word “Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond to your appeal in writing within 45 days.
9. Non-discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights. Unless permitted by the CCPA, we will not:
- Deny you goods or services.
- Charge you different prices or rates for goods or services, including through granting discounts or other benefits, or imposing penalties.
- Provide you a different level or quality of goods or services.
- Suggest that you may receive a different price or rate for goods or services or a different level or quality of goods or services.
We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for the retention or sale of your personal information.
10. Retention
We retain each category of personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in Section 3, and in any event for as long as required to meet our legal obligations. Records of the consent you provided to be contacted, including the consent certificate, are retained for a minimum of five (5) years from the date of your request.
11. Changes to this Notice
We reserve the right to amend this Notice at our discretion and at any time. When we make changes, we will post the updated Notice on the Sites and update the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the Sites following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
12. Contact information
